We are still junkies for national parks, though the ones on this trip were different than our favorites out west. Many of them were orchestrated so that some of the states could have a park and offer travel closer to home when road tripping was just getting started. Part of that process was moving people from the land so the park could reclaim the wilderness. It was a different experience that the breathtaking natural wonders that define the parks we have been to before. There are so many beautiful places in this country- we continually wonder why some places are parks or scenic roads, and others are not.
This trip had a sense of accomplishment as we finished the lower 48. It also leaves the daunting tasks of getting to Alaska and Hawaii on the horizon. Regardless of the challenge, we will adventure on!
Thanks for traveling along with us. See you on the road!
