Genesse Mountain, CO
Our last picnic stop for this trip. Can you see the snow capped mountains in the background? It’s nice to be back in Colorado.
Welcome to Colorado!
This is the most excited they have been for a sign photo!
We are all happy to be back in the land of low humidity.

McCook, Nebraska
This was the dinner order.
This was ice cream.
It was delicious.
Welcome to Nebraska
It was so close that we couldn’t resist!
Actually, we were looking for a place to stop and the options were better 30 miles north. It just happened to be in Nebraska.
Lebanon, Kansas
The geographic center of the lower 48. We’ve been to all of them and now we are in the middle.
We are not sure of the precise location- there were 3 different signs. We think it’s the stone monument with the plaque. Regardless, we were in the center!
Marysville, KS
An important stop on the Pony Express.
The horse barn.
We have been following the Pony Express trail all day. We needed a lunch stop and the Wagon Wheel in Marysville was a great choice!
Clarence, Missouri
At first glance it looks like a regular gas station.
Upon closer examination it is really a 1950’s ghost station complete with cars, dummies, and gas for 39 cents a gallon.

City Museum: We Survived!
Exhausted, dirty, and a bit bruised, this is still one of the best places we have ever been!
City Museum: Outside Fun
We were surprised by how much has been added in the 6 years since we were last here!
City Museum: Inside Fun
This place is so hard to describe. This picture is looking up from the basement caverns. The light at the top is the roof, 10 stories up. The round structures are stairs and slides. It must have been some sort of trash chute when this was a factory.
Caught in the creature's mouth. In the caverns.
The mosaic on the floor below is level 1. The girls are climbing from level 2 to level 3. The colored bars to the right enclose a slide made from the troughs of cement mixers. The rails are shocks from semi trucks.
This is the under sea room. There are tunnels and climbing spaces. The favorite was crawling through the ceiling tunnels. You can see a few of the lookouts in the upper right of the photo.

City Museum: Lunch Break
All the climbing required a lunch/ rest. Sam found us the perfect “City Museum” table!
The whole place is covered with mosaics. Most of the materials are recycled. The artistry is amazing!
City Museum: Under the Sea
In the aquarium room.
There was a tunnel around the fish tank. The girls crawled around and took the camera.

City Museum: World’s Largest Pencil
It wouldn't be a complete stop without a bit of wacky, wild, & weird. They needed a rest after hours of climbing, scrambling, and exploring!
And other goofiness.
City Museum: The Roof
We started on the roof!
There are slides, places to climb, a fountain, and a Ferris wheel.
And a huge praying mantis.
The girls were exactly opposite us. We have talked about balance on a Ferris wheel. A good lesson in physics.
There is a tiny piece of the arch visible in the distance. It's between the two tall buildings that are close together just to the left of center in the picture.
This is the dome room just below the praying mantis. There are stairs, or you can climb. Jim and the girls climbed.
Perspective is difficult here- it's about 3 stories up. This place is not for the faint of heart!
