Mount Vernon

A great visit to George Washington’s home. It was a very large estate and farm. There were very interesting exhibits and movies as well as a tour of the house.

The house is built of wood. The planks are cut tolook like stone then painted. Sand is thrown at the paint to give it the appearance of stone. This is the part they are stripping to restore.

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

We stopped for a quick picnic and one more look at the ocean before we head west.

Our timing was impeccable- more dolphins swimming by. Some way off in the distance and a few very close to the beach!

NASA Rocket Launch Center at Wallops Island, VA

They launch suborbital rockets here. It would be very cool to see a launch but our timing was not that good!

We all got to be astronauts!

A visit to a NASA site is not complete without space ice cream!
