The line was out the door both last night and when we arrived there after dinner. Now we know why!

Mariner’s Park

We could see the lighthouse and the horses. Hard to make out in the photo.

Waiting for the Pony Express, a 25 cent trolley that does a loop around the island. It was a party bus with people riding just for the ride, like us!

We did not take photos of our wonderful dinner at Etta’s. We now know that both girls love crab cakes. You are what you eat...

Back to the beach!

Their last opportunity for an ocean swim on this trip! We had a great animal siting, but no opportunity for photos. As we were watching the girls Jim spotted a fin just beyond the place where they were swimming. Dolphins! We saw several groups swim by! Very exciting to see them in the wild!

The water was much cooler than the beach on Ocracoke. 

They opted for sandcastles instead of boogie boards.

Ali was very proud of the hollow center.

There was also some sand art.

Assateague National Wildlife Refuge

The National Park visitor center had a touch tank.

Welk (it looks a lot like a conch).

Horseshoe Crab

Chincoteague Island, Virginia

A nice spot with a wildlife preserve, wild horses, marshes and beaches.

We climbed the light house.

175 steps to a great view!

Next stop, the pony overlook. 

Hard to tell, but there is a herd of wild horses far off in the distance.
