Shackleford Banks

A barrier island between Harkers and the open ocean. There are no structures- just beach and wild horses! The theory is that they were shipwrecked at least 150 years ago and have made the island their home.

We got our first glimpse of the horse from the ferry. We saw them a few more times while we were on the island, but no photo opts.
